Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the p[ai]ges writing platform, operated by [TRADING_NAME] (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The service

p[ai]ges is a writing assistance platform that helps authors plan, draft, humanise, and export long-form written works including books, essays, and manuscripts. The service includes AI-assisted drafting, an AI-detection and humanisation pipeline, cover art generation, export to multiple formats (PDF, EPUB, DOCX, and others), and optional access to the p[ai]ges API via a Model Context Protocol server.

We may update or discontinue features at any time. We will give reasonable notice of any change that materially affects your ability to export or access your content.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when you create an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the service, or the age of digital consent in your country if higher. By registering you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Each account is for a single individual. You may not share your account or transfer it to another person.

3. Subscription plans and billing

p[ai]ges is offered on a subscription basis under four plans: Draft, Author, Studio, and Press. Plan details — including price, book allowance, and humaniser allowance — are shown on our pricing page at the time of purchase.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access until that date.

We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice. If you cancel before the next renewal, the new price does not apply to you.

4. Allowances and top-up packs

Each plan includes two separate allowances: a book allowance for AI drafting and generation, and a humaniser allowance for the humanisation and detection pipeline. These buckets are independent: humaniser allowance can only be spent on humanisation and detection; book allowance on everything else. Neither bucket can borrow from the other.

Monthly allowances are granted at the start of each billing cycle and do not carry over. Top-up packs are purchased separately, are added to your balance immediately, and do not expire while your account remains active.

Allowances are measured in words generated. A generation that produces no output because of an error on our side costs nothing. If the AI provider returns an error after generating partial output, only the words actually generated are charged.

5. Bring-your-own-key (BYOK)

You may supply your own API keys from supported AI providers. When you do, your generations are routed to that provider using your key, and the generation costs no allowance from your p[ai]ges balance — the provider charges your account with them directly. p[ai]ges stores your keys encrypted with AES-256-GCM and never transmits them in log files or audit records.

6. Refunds

[REFUND_WINDOW_DAYS] — to be completed by the account holder before launch. Describe your refund position here: for example, “We offer a full refund within 14 days of purchase if you have not used more than 10% of the allowance included with that subscription period” or “All sales are final.”

7. Your content

You retain all rights to the content you create using p[ai]ges, including text you write yourself, text you generate with AI assistance, and exported files. We do not claim any ownership over your manuscripts, outlines, or cover art.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. This licence ends when you delete your account or the relevant content.

You are responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe third-party rights and complies with applicable law. You must not use the service to generate content that is illegal, defamatory, or intended to harm others.

8. AI-generated content

AI models may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or surprising output. You are responsible for reviewing everything the service generates before using or publishing it. We make no warranty that AI-generated text is accurate, original, or fit for any particular purpose.

The legal status of AI-generated text varies by jurisdiction and continues to evolve. You should obtain independent legal advice if you intend to assert copyright in AI-assisted works.

9. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • Use the service to generate spam, phishing content, or deceptive material.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract models or underlying systems.
  • Resell or sublicence access to the service without our written permission.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
  • Use automated means to access the service at a rate that degrades performance for other users, except through the documented API with a valid API key.
  • Circumvent account limits, plan restrictions, or rate limiting.

10. Intellectual property

The p[ai]ges name, logo, software, and all non-user content on the platform belong to [TRADING_NAME] or its licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our brand, trademarks, or software outside the service.

11. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defect will be corrected. We are not liable for the accuracy or completeness of AI-generated content.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, [TRADING_NAME]’s total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months immediately before the claim arose.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless [TRADING_NAME] and its employees, contractors, and directors from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

14. Termination

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe your use puts the service or other users at risk.

On termination, your right to access the service ends immediately. You should export your content before closing your account. We will retain your data as described in our Privacy Policy before deleting it.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the law of [JURISDICTION]. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [JURISDICTION].

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a prominent notice in the product at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
